Warehouse Operative

Since our launch in 1996, Whistlefish has become a leading art and greetings card retailer in the South West. We sell a wide selection of cards, wrapping paper, art prints, canvas art and gifts direct to customers through a network of 12 galleries and our website.

We are currently recruiting for an experienced warehouse operative to join our production and warehouse site in Redruth. The core shift is Monday to Friday, 07:30am to 16:00, with some weekend work required during the peak summer and Christmas periods.

The warehouse operative is responsible for various tasks involved in the day-to-day operations of the Whistlefish warehouse. The primary job duties will typically include:

1. Receiving and storing goods: Unloading incoming shipments, inspecting them for damage, and ensuring accurate recording of received items. Properly organising and storing goods in designated areas.

2. Picking and packing orders: Retrieving items from inventory based on order lists or requests. Packaging them securely and preparing them for shipping or delivery.

3. Inventory management: Maintaining accurate inventory records, conducting regular stock checks, and reconciling any discrepancies. Ensuring stock levels are sufficient and notifying supervisors of shortages or damaged goods.

4. Quality control: Inspecting products for defects or damages and reporting any issues to the Factory Manager. Adhering to quality standards and following appropriate procedures for handling and storing various types of goods.

5. Operating equipment: Using forklifts, pallet trucks, or other machinery to move, lift, or transport goods within the warehouse. Following safety protocols and maintaining equipment in good working condition.

6. Order fulfilment: Collaborating with other warehouse staff to fulfil customer orders accurately and efficiently. Working with shipping carriers to schedule pickups or deliveries as needed.

7. Maintaining cleanliness and organisation: Keeping the warehouse clean and organised, ensuring aisles and walkways are clear of obstacles. Safely disposing of packaging materials and maintaining a tidy work area.

8. Safety and security: Adhering to safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents or injuries. Following proper procedures for handling hazardous materials and ensuring the security of warehouse premises and inventory.

9. Documentation and paperwork: Accurately completing required paperwork, such as shipping labels, inventory reports, or delivery receipts. Maintaining records of incoming and outgoing shipments.

10. Teamwork and communication: Collaborating with colleagues and your management team to ensure smooth warehouse operations. Communicating effectively regarding tasks, inventory status, and any issues that arise.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £12.00 per hour
